Dr_Sabir

A proven administrative professional, Dr. Sabir brings an eclectic set of work and life experiences to TCC. He has 25 years of combined experience in policing, public safety, and law enforcement administration at the Fort Worth Police Department. During this tenure, he provided administrative leadership and support in police professional development (new recruits) and emergency management. As an officer, he served as a consultant and engaged in high level interactions with state and federal government officials, which included police chiefs and district attorneys.


Dr. Sabir faithfully served as the TCC Trinity River Campus Assistant to the President from 2016-2019, where his well-developed interpersonal skills enabled him to assume many high-level responsibilities in numerous sensitive situations. In this position, Dr. Sabir interfaced with the Chancellor's Cabinet as well as the Campus President's Senior Leadership Team. He was also the point-person for the Trinity River Campus budgetary and financial planning during the College's budget planning season. He now serves as an Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice and was appointed in June 2021 as Department Chair of Behavioral Sciences.


In June 2019, he attended the prestigous AACC John E. Roueche Future Leaders Institute in Washington, D.C. and was among less than two dozen higher-ed professionals from across the country to attend.

Past and recent affiliations includes the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tarrant County, Union Gospel Mission, Boy Scouts of America, and Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County. He currently serves as an Executive Board Member of the DFW March of Dimes. He is the past president of the Tarrant County Chapter of the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Ed (TABPHE), which includes members from Tarleton State University, University of Texas-Arlington, Texas Wesleyan University, Texas Christian University, University of North Texas Health Science Center-Fort Worth, and Tarrant County College. He is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Dr. Sabir earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from LeTourneau University; a Master's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University-San Antonio, and a Doctorate in Human Services from Capella University.

He holds a Black-Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and enjoys a good Vinyasa Yoga class and outdoor calisthenics. In his spare time, he enjoys building family trees and specializes in African American genealogy.
