Dr. Nusrath Habiba MD, FAAP 

Dr. Nusrath Habiba is Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Women’s Health. She is board certified in Pediatrics. She was born and raised in India. Before migrating to United States, she had her own Family Practice in Chennai, India focusing mainly on women and children. She was also working as Medical Officer in the Department of Maternity, Child Health and Family Welfare and was member of Task Force for India Population Project V, Vaccine Preventable Diseases, Polio Eradication Program. While in India, she was specially trained and certified in Neonatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pelvic and Abdominal Ultrasound, Cervical Cancer Detection, Vasectomy and Tubectomy. 

Dr. Habiba did her residency in Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo and served as chief resident for one year during her third-year residency. She joined as full-time faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at UNTHSC in 2008. She served as Clerkship Director for Pediatrics till 2022. She is a Fellow of Academy of Medical Educators (AME) and founding member of this Academy. 

Dr. Habiba was nominated and selected to the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2020. She was one of the team members along with Dr. Priya Bui and Carolyn Anderson for "Volubility of the year Award for 2021" for her contributions to TCOM Core Pediatric rotation which is the highest award of the University. 

Dr. Habiba has been selected as the Top Doctor of Pediatrics in Fort Worth by her peers continuously from 2013 to 2023. She teaches Year 1,2 and 3 TCOM students, diverse topics in Pediatrics and precepts students through Pediatric Research Program and during their Pediatrics rotations. She participates in interviewing Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) applicants and member of the Admission Committee of TCOM. She oversees Inter Professional Education activities in the pediatric clinic and collaborating with Texas Christian University and Texas Women's University Nutritional Science Departments from 2014. She has multiple publications to her credit. She has been invited to various meetings in Europe and Asia as Guest speaker. Her Clinical and research interests include Pediatric Nutrition, Obesity Prevention, Immunization, Inter Professional Education, Child Development and Mental Health. Dr. Habiba also faculty advisor for refugee Health Initiative Muslim Students Association of UNTHSC (UNT Health Science Center) and Muslim Women Doctors Association UNTHSC Chapter.
